Family Support

In 2003, VRS was approached by the State Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to provide supervised visits and transportation to children in foster care. VRS has provided parenting skills Instruction for many years to families receiving services from DCFS, Walla Walla Public Schools and the Developmental Disabilities Administration. The VRS Family Support program currently provides support to 35 families at a time.

Many supervised visits take place at VRS’s administrative offices in meeting spaces with couches, toys
and cartoon murals on the wall. There is outdoor play space that contains a playhouse, a picnic table
and push toys. VRS utilizes agency and private vehicles to transport children to and from visits.

VRS provides supervised visitation services to non-DCYF clients as well, through a Private Pay system.

The Combined In-Home Services part of our Family Support program provides a variety of home-based
